Privacy policy

What we collect
- Account: your email, display name and, if you sign in with Google, your Google profile name and photo. If you choose a password we store only a salted hash of it, never the password itself. We keep session records (device type and IP address) so you stay signed in and to stop abuse.
- Comments and profile: once you post a comment or reply, you get a public profile page showing your display name, avatar, join month, your comments and replies, and the apps you upvoted. Your email is never shown.
- Newsletter: only if you ask for it (the box on the sign-up form, the newsletter form, or your account settings). We store your email and when you confirmed. Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- App submissions and listing claims: the details you submit, your email and your IP address (for spam prevention).
- Reports: when you report a comment, we store which comment, your account and the reason. Reports are seen only by moderators.
- Analytics: privacy-friendly, cookie-free page statistics (Plausible). No personal profiles.
How we use it
- To run your account: sign-in links, email confirmation, password resets.
- To show the comments and upvotes you chose to post.
- To send the newsletter, only if you subscribed.
- To keep the community useful: moderators can remove comments that break the rules and suspend or delete accounts used for spam or abuse.
Who processes it
Cloudflare (hosting, database, spam protection), Resend (email delivery), Google (only if you sign in with Google), Plausible (analytics).
Your choices
- Change your display name or password, and turn the newsletter on or off, in your account settings.
- Delete your own comments and replies at any time.
- Delete your account from your account settings. This removes your comments, replies, upvotes, saved apps and sign-in methods. Replies other people wrote under your comments stay, under a placeholder.
- Questions or other requests: hello@whatnotapps.com.
